'Long Walk To Freedom' - Nelson Mandela

Before divulging my views on this book any further, I realise that it's the second time I am here to expatiate on any autobiography, the first being my blog on 'Experimets with Truth', a few months back..

Well, most of the times when I begin to gear me up for the job of composing one more readable article on my blog, a tinge of laziness accomapanied with the feeling of not having any presentable stuff deters me from going any further and has become a primary reason for my desertion of writing practises..

But two days back, I completed with this gloriously remarkable book which gives the life account of one of the most famous figures of history, one of the most innovative leaders and the most resilient patriots ever born .... Nelson Mandela.

And I will certainly like to mention a few pts. on this blog to retain the memory of this book to pore over in future.

His struggle beginning from his youth, when he joined Youth League, leading to his life in prison, which lasted approximately 27 yrs & 6 months ,to way back to freedom just to fight once more with the White Government on Negotiation Table is indeed a kind of cornucopia of adventures, one can imagine only in dreams or envisage them in movies, but the thought that this guy has passed his entire youth in prison is sufficient to put shivers down the spine of any person who believes himself capable of suffering anything even for the sake of national benefit.

The book always carries with it a humorous touch though scenes of extreme frustration have been scribbled all along, particularly relating to his separation from his wife,Winnie and the oppresive measures taken by government to retain white supremacy over blacks by hook or crook leading to abhoresome policies of Apartheid.

I beleive rather than giving my descriptions, a certain portions from his own writing will do more justice in conveying his stand, though the excerpts presented below are not accurate, as I am writing them, recalling only from my memory, the book is no more with me.

'There are two obligations to any person: obligation towards his family, who are most near & dear to you and obligation towards your (country) people.
A person born in South-Africa can never be entitled to fulful both of them cause if you fulfil the former, you will remain confined to your own family and if you fulfil the later, you will become an outlaw living a life of secrecy and violations.'

'The most important thing for a prisoner suffering sentence is not the government policy, or even the God, but the warden attending him next door. His happiness of life depends on his relation with this warden. '

When a warden ,in the fit of rage, rushed towards Mandela, to punch him,He(Mandela) got very afraid but this sentence came out of his mouth automatically, not totally out of bravery, but because it is what was supposed to be said:'If you so much as lay a hand on me,I will take you to the highest land on court, and when I will finish with you,you will be as poor as a church mouse. '
The warden ofcourse silenced.

'It is not bravery to not feel fear, but to overcome it.I have remained bold, even when I was afraid the most.'

'Whenever in a struggle for the sake of righteousness and humanity, you climb a hill, you only find there are more hills to climb.'

'Both oppressor and oppressed become the victims , oppressor becoming the victim of hatred and the oppressed becoming the victim of slavery. Both need to be freed.'

'No person is born with hatred towards any person owing to colour of his skin.Hatred must be taught. And if they can be taught to hate, they can also be taught to love as love comes more naturally to humans than hatred.'

'I have completed a long distance and I am taking a moment to rest here, to look at the vista of enviroment surrounding me, to look at the distance I have covered, but I dare not linger as my long walk is not yet over.'

All said, this is a must read autobiography and teaches you the values of morality, resilience, strength and leadership.

Har taraf har jagah beshumaar aadmi!!!!!

Once upon a time, I was chatting with a friend of mine, when all of a sudden I came up with a topic of which we both were totally unaware and wich arisen from a Gazhal sung by my fav singer...(Scroll a few lines down to know his name) and look for urself, what kind of philosophical - cum - psychological discussion I entered in with this guy......

pradeep_mishra007 : I , me ,your's truly
R : My friend

Here, it goes, in all it's totality ,though some parts have been modified or cut as they were found detrimental to either mine or my dear friend's worldly appearance .....

pradeep_mishra007: Tell me one thing?
R : bol?
pradeep_mishra007: Har taraf har jagah beshumaar aadmi
pradeep_mishra007: Fir bhi tanhaaiyon ka shikaar aadmi
pradeep_mishra007: Aisa kyun?
R: Because they have not been introduced
pradeep_mishra007: Let's say they have been introduced
R : if it is done with the aspect of formality ..it is futile....serves no purpose...
R : if there is a motive...bingo...

pradeep_mishra007: if there is a motive ...... motive for one who introduces or the one who gets introduced..?
R : motive in general
R : the motive of the meeting is true to its cause....
R : if people really want to know their colleagues...then that is ur motive...
R : or the authorities administer duly so that each one of u is introduced.....so much that u become friends...tthen purpose is solved ...
pradeep_mishra007: :( ~x( :-/ :( ~x( :-/ :( ~x( :-/ :( ~x( :-/ :( ~x( :-/
R : hehe
pradeep_mishra007: Oye , these smileys r telling u abt the situation authorities wil get in,not my condn
R : yea yea
pradeep_mishra007: Some matters still need due clarification
R : like?
R : like?
pradeep_mishra007: Like...u see......The concept loneliness of arises from the
fact that u dunno him but in reality even many ppl u know can give u the same tinge of loneliness.
pradeep_mishra007: typing yaar
R : :D
pradeep_mishra007: ans plz
R : well.... thats because of the past experiences that you shared with him/her
R : they didnt cater to ur tastes...and hence.....u refrain
pradeep_mishra007: Lets say,I never shared any past exp with them & still...
R : then u dont know them
R : so...back to square one
pradeep_mishra007: No, I know him ,have talked to him twice regularly, but never happened to be part of any event like thing with him
pradeep_mishra007: Lets say, some guy in my class
R : talking and sharing expierences with him is different
pradeep_mishra007: yeah
pradeep_mishra007: thats what I am telling
pradeep_mishra007: I know him, still am alone with him
pradeep_mishra007: aisa to kam hi hota hai ,wo bhi ho tanhaai bhi
R : cause u didnt participate in an event which creates a personal bond
pradeep_mishra007: aaaa, now u getting it
pradeep_mishra007: Lets say, his very presence in an event repells me from participatig in that event though i Don't have any thing against him in my heart, wat kind of feling wud be that?
R : that does exist in some....
R : u have a set of beliefs.......right /wrong ..... and if that person goes overboard and abuses ur limit of wrong ,then according to ur judgement ...u will dislike him...and vice a versa
pradeep_mishra007: and wat if that person w/o indulging in any activity, just with his mere presence creates an ambience in which I start feeling uncomfortable?
R : that situation will not arise
pradeep_mishra007: It has arisen already
R : only by his activity will u either be intimidated...
R : he should have done something...for u to make a judgement
pradeep_mishra007: It's just his ..u may say ..some of his mannerisms sometime or some time just some expression on his face portending an unforseen feeling ofdiscordance, taht pushes u away frm him...
R : having animosity against him by just looking at him ,without him doing anything means that you are assuming thigns about him ...which may/may not be true
R : yea...see...so he has done something ...right
R : for u to make a judgement
R : :P
pradeep_mishra007: bearing some natural expression on ones face w/o
lnowledge of making asome person uncomfortabnle, does that account in doing
something?
R : that counts as ur assumption
R : not the truth
pradeep_mishra007: Sometimes assumptions, or the sixth sense notices r more true in intensity than trurth ,believe me....reason fails u
R : how sure u r that that sometimes is now ,when u r looking at that person
pradeep_mishra007: that sometime actually occurs everytime
R : then the problem is more inherent than of the mans
pradeep_mishra007: like?
R : the person always has biased notions on people whom he doesnt know...(for eg)he always assumes that the world is his enemy
R : of*
pradeep_mishra007: Lets say the person is of kind, who just feels some thing abt the ppl around, usually positive feelingand most of the time, when he embarks on a decision ,particularly on a friend ship making note, most of fthem r successful,so the possibility on the otherside with this man shud alsobet the same.....
R : i didnt get the last part
pradeep_mishra007: That means if a persoin is always right in determining that
the person in front is going to be gud in form of a frien then he will certainly also be gud in determinuing that the person in front i snot gud as a friend
R : hehe.... u r being rhetoric...its just because he has ticked those beliefs of good
and the like...that u assume that his company will be delighful ..... u r still assuming...only after knowing each other completely can u cement that assumption
pradeep_mishra007: Lets say I know hoim to the extent taht he is my room partner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pradeep_mishra007: ]Now
pradeep_mishra007: ?
R : then u already know that man to a certain extent...his actions have already influenced you....
pradeep_mishra007: are yaar, his action just don't involve me at all.......
R : his actions doesnt necessaryily revolve around u...they are merely ur observations
pradeep_mishra007: Its just I notice him everyday, and he hasn't done anything that may be accounted illegal or anything embarassing it's just his very presence.....
R : not possible.... either u have some pre-concieved notions about him or u have made a judgement based on his actions...knowingly or unknowingly
pradeep_mishra007: See, the guy never pre-conceives, he just has an apallingly high sense of feeling the amboience ..
pradeep_mishra007: so
pradeep_mishra007: sorry
pradeep_mishra007: plz send it again
R : send waht ?
pradeep_mishra007: u send some file na?
R : u were
R : and that magnifying glass imaeg:P
pradeep_mishra007: may be I just mistakenly dragged some file in here and it started neing sended to u & i cancelled it
R : thats waht happened
pradeep_mishra007: wr were we?
pradeep_mishra007: Oye,wat happ?
R : one question tho.... can i know the subjects of this discussion?
R : kuch nahi
pradeep_mishra007: yeah
R : aisj puch raha tha
pradeep_mishra007: har taraf har jagah beshumar aadmi, fir bhi tanhaaiyon ka
shikar aadmi
pradeep_mishra007: aisa kyun?
R : u r starting all over again?
pradeep_mishra007: No
R : abe ...aaj itna philo kyu ho gaya tha
pradeep_mishra007: kaun mai?
R : yea!
pradeep_mishra007: I thought it was u...
R : i never started it
R : and as i had nobidy to chat with i only continued it
pradeep_mishra007: I was just singin a song from my ever fav Jagjit Singh And Lata Mangeshkar
pradeep_mishra007: har taraf har jagah..
pradeep_mishra007: and u cracked on it
pradeep_mishra007: And i fuele the fire
R : what did i do?
R : hehe
pradeep_mishra007: U see
R : what?
pradeep_mishra007: kabhi kabhi gazals sunte to, aaj aise gazal generated
philosophy ke shikaar na hote
R : ?
R : chal re....time for match
pradeep_mishra007: ;;)

pradeep_mishra007: which one?
R : pata nahi...
pradeep_mishra007: Guess what?
R : wat?
pradeep_mishra007: Am posting this chat on my blog, it will reveal ur philosophical wisdom......
pradeep_mishra007: :D
R : there is no wisdom in my philosophy..i hate being philosophical...

Bell you!!

So, I am back again and this time with a renewed energy.

Last time, I was unprepared and the consequences tagged me with a 50 %iler.

But this time, no stones wil be left unturned, no pages unread.

Hmmmm, my second tryst with Cat has begun this year and I am gearing me up once more, but this time the game will be different.

Quants,English, DI ,LR ....everyrthing will be preprepared.....yes preprepared ....all attacks will be premeditated, precogitated so that no chances r goin to be taken and God has given me this opportunity to accoutre myself with this unending vacation.

So, may this vacation last a bit longer ,atleast till August .....and ......and let the game begin....as a friend of mine says......
